Mr. Antonio Vincenzo  Ierino
It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Antonio Ierino, age 76 years announce his peaceful passing on the morning of Sunday, July 12, 2009 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Antonio was born to Giuseppe and Raffaela Ierino in Stignano, Reggio Calabria, Italy on December 9, 1932. Antonio met his loving wife Nina and they were married on April 11, 1957. In 1959 they immigrated to Canada. He began his career in Canada as a labourer at Paterson Terminal, and then continued his employment at Richardson Terminal until his retirement in 1997. Antonio was a dedicated employee and loved his job. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather he always ensured that his family was provided for.

His passion was his family and spending time with relatives and close friends. He enjoyed impressing everyone with his wine making talent, gardening expertise and sausage making.

Antonio is survived by his wife Nina; children Joseph, Cosimo (Luciana), Nick (Josie), Mary (Frank) Morabito; grandchildren Anthony, Micheal, Anthony, Alyssa, Dominique, Gabriella, Victoria and Samantha. Also surviving in Calabria, Italy are his sister Marietta and sisters-in-law Maria and Josephine. In Thunder Bay brother-in-law Domenico (Franca) Crupi, Mike (Diane) Crupi, sisters-in-law Maria (Cosimo) Pellegrino, Rosetta (Cosimo) Figliomeni, Tita Scaffeo, and Tony (Lena) Crupi. Numerous relatives also survive in Thunder Bay and Italy.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Nicolino and Vincenzo; sister Theresa and brothers-in-law Raffaele Lavuda and Antonio Scaffeo.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Antonio Ierino will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009 with family and friends gathering at St. Dominic's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. celebrated by Fr. Dan Lapolla. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum in St. Andrew’s R. C. Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with Vigil Prayers being offered at 7:00 P.M. in the Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice.
