Obituary for Eva (+Bill) Ellard

Eva Ellard passed away in Calgary, AB on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the age of 93 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Lyn (Brian) and Lee (Bruce); granddaughter Cheri; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband William "Bill" Ellard, son William "Billy," and granddaughter Kelly. A private interment will take place for both Eva and Bill in Mountainview Cemetery (Thunder Bay, ON). A Celebration for Eva and Bill will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 12:00 pm at the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street, Thunder Bay.



William Richard Ellard passed away in Calgary AB on January 31, 2015 at the age of 93. Bill was born in Fort William on May 3, 1921, the first child of

William and Hilda Ellard. He attended public school in Fort William and The Fort William Vocational Institute until 1939 when he was forced to leave school after the death of his father to find work to help support the family. During the war Bill enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed in Bagotville PQ and Moncton NB. While in Moncton he met and later married Eva Colpitts. Following his military service Bill worked at Canadian Car and Foundry as a purchasing agent and for the City of Fort William as a bus driver. He later became the License Issuer and Inspector for the City of Thunder Bay. They lived in Thunder Bay until Bill retired and then moved to Calgary AB to be near their twin daughters and their families. Bill was predeceased by his son William Grant Ellard in 1987, his granddaughter Kelly Howe in 1995, and his sister Marjorie Zarowski in 2010. Bill and his wife Eva were founding members of the Retarded Children's Association of Thunder Bay (now known as Community Living Thunder Bay). He is survived by his wife Eva and their twin daughters, Marlene Redgwell (Brian) and Marilyn Howe (Bruce) and granddaughter Cheri Howe and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Mary Harding of Kaitia New Zealand and his brother Bruce Ellard of Thunder Bay ON.
