Obituary for Mr. Attila-Alexander Kesmarky

Mr. Attila-Alexander Kesmarky
KESMARKY

With broken hearts, the family of Attila-Alexander Kesmarky (Otis), age 63 years, announces his passing after a brief illness on Friday August 31st, 2018, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Born on November 15th, 1954, Attila was the third child of Alexander and Waltraut Kesmarky. Attila attended FWCI, where he was a standout athlete; there, he earned a scholarship in gymnastics to North Dakota University, where he studied art history. After returning from university, Attila worked with his father learning cabinet making, which became his livelihood until his passing. But what Attila loved most was his family, friends, animals, music, and camp at Shebandowan. Attila was an accomplished musician and artist, playing in numerous bands over the past four decades. Attila spent the majority of his time at Shebandowan, where he was a well- known member of the community, volunteer firefighter, and founder of “Shebandojam”, a fundraiser for the Shebandowan Fire Department. He was fond of travelling, most recently to spend time in Florida with close friends Ray, Jane, Maddie, and Joelle Pilon.

Attila is survived by his mother Waltraut Kesmarky, sister Marina Robinson, niece Meagan Kennedy, brother-in-law Doug Bernst, and best friend Maddie Pilon. He was predeceased by his father Alexander and sister Sylvia Bernst.

A Celebration of Attila’s Life will be held on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the DaVinci Centre. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Attila to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverly Street at Algoma.
