Obituary for Mr. Arthur "Art" Lloyd Acornley

Mr. Arthur "Art" Lloyd Acornley
ACORNLEY

It is with great sadness that the family of Art Acornley announce his passing on Monday, January 15, 2018 after a hard-fought battle with multiple medical issues.

Art was predeceased by his parents Arthur (1978) and Audrey (1967). He is survived by his daughter Destinee Afton (1985) and son Landon William Edward (1987), their mother Monique Peltier, and his many close friends.

Arthur Lloyd Acornley was born in Peterborough, ON on December 31st, 1954 to Arthur Stanley Acornley and Audrey (Henderson) Acornley. His deep passion for the outdoors led him to a diploma in forestry and a career as a surveyor in Thunder Bay. This passion was second only to the love he had for his family and friends, as the friendships he formed were stronger than the roads and bridges he helped create.

Sincere thanks to all of Art's close friends and health care professionals involved in Art’s care. TBRHSC and St. Joseph’s Hospice were truly amazing and words cannot express how grateful his family is for the level of compassion and care he received.

A celebration of life will take place on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 6:00pm at the Westfort Prosvita, 721 Gore Street West, where friends and family will raise a glass in his honour.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street.

I've finished lifes chores assigned to me,
Don't worry, or feel sad for me.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won't be long you will see,
Till we're together you and me.
To all those that think of me,
Be happy as I go to sea.
If others wonder why I'm missin'
Just tell 'em I've gone fishin'.
