The family of Joseph David Koval is extremely saddened to announce his unexpected passing at St. Joseph's rehab, on Sat. August 19, 2017. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Gigi, Uncle and Great Uncle.

Joseph spent many years working for the City of Thunder Bay, Parks and Rec Division, where he made life long friendships and loved his home in the East End. Joseph loved spending time at his camp and gardening. He always was a hard worker at any task he did. Family was everything to him and his wife and daughters and grandchildren were his world.Joseph's smile was infectious and had an effect on everyone. Joseph was always full of advice and had an immense impact on his daughters. Joseph to others was also known as the weatherman. In the fall he looked forward to making pickles and saurerkraut with his secret family recipe.

He will be greatly missed by his adoring wife Lilly of 47 years, who was his soulmate; his daughters Debbie (Andrew), granddaughters Nevarra and Laikyn, Jennifer (Lee), granddaughter Morgann and grandson Graysonn (his Pal), Jolene (John), granddaughters Julia and Josie (Nancy and Neil), Melissa (Jason), grandchildren Jesse and Julia. There will always be a special place in his heart for his Nephew Bobby and wife Sherry, and family. Joseph was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Julia Koval and in-laws Alex and Mary Hrycyshyn.

Funeral services for the late Joseph David Koval will be held on Friday, Aug. 25 at 11:00 am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, with Father Joseph Arockiam of St. Peters Church officiating. Interment will follow in Mountainview Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Joseph to the Northern Cancer Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
