Mr. Arthur Raymond  Aho
Arthur Raymond Aho, age 85 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesaday, August 16, 2017.
Born in Port Arthur, he lived in Kivikoski and attended McIntyre Gorham School and then Port Arthur Tech. Art earned his M.C.I Designation in Credit and Financial Management via University of Toronto and was a 23 year member of the Credit Institute of Canada. He was employed by a farm supply and grain business, Reid’s Tire and Battery, Goodyear Canada as store manager, and finally spent 20 years at Revenue Canada Taxation where he retired in 1993. Art was a proud founding member of Christ Lutheran Church serving the congregation in many positions. He also was an organizer of the former Lutheran Curling League. His interests were sports, his Toronto Maple Leafs, playing and watching curling, pool, hunting and fishing. Art was outgoing, enjoyed socializing and was known for his sense of humor and distinctive laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.
Art is survived by his wife of 63 years Arline; daughter Janice (Hermann) Huegli; sons Brian (Linda) Aho, Kevin (Sherley) Aho; grandson Mark Aho; sister-in-law Linda (Lloyd) Chaykowski and nephew Michael (Charlene) Chaykowski and numerous other relatives.
Predeceased by his grandson Jeffrey Aho, sister-in-law Barbara (Terry) Sutton, parents Hjalmar and Signe Aho, grandparents John and Matilda Happonen and Kalle and Ida Heinaaho.
As Arthur requested, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 47 Walkover St., Thunder Bay with private interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
Donations to the Christ Lutheran Memorial Fund or to the charity of choice would be appreciated.
