Sarah Tait

Mrs. Sarah Tait, age 68 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, September 10, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Sarah was born in Sachigo Lake, Ontario on March 22, 1955 to Daniel and Rubina Mekanak. She worked as a Home and Community Care Coordinator for Windigo, where she made many friends over the years. Sarah loved the outdoors, especially gardening and camping. Sarah's greatest passion was her family and spending time with all them made her the happiest. Sarah was a foster Mom and took pride in caring for anyone who needed it. Her kindness, big heart and love radiated from her. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Sarah is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joseph; her children Zacharius (Vivian), Archie, Malachi (Morningstar), Dino (Marissa), Barb (Isaac), Gwen and Eugene (Teagan); daughter-in-law Danielle; adopted children Shayla, Flora, Mina (John); grandchildren Coulson, Malcolm, Kieron, Janessa, Jeron, Karma, Janelle, Kayla, Jenna, Kyrie, Josiah, Nolan, Cree, Brianna, Destiny (Dominic), Hannah, Lonia, Kimiwan; great-grandchildren Deanna, Danica, Sky, Luca, Jeremy, Terrace, Gavin, Dallas, Jason, Rachel, Tia, Jacob, Jonas and Arielle. She is also survived by her siblings Frances, Greta, Cyril, Ophelia, Jessie, Ida, Richard, Shirley, Agnes and Hilda as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She was predeceased by her son Jason; grandchildren Mario, Miriam, Daniel and Joseph; parents and sister Elizabeth as well as aunts, uncles and other relatives.
A Wake will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 11:00am until 1:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Sarah will then be transported to Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, where visitation will continue on Wednesday from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Final services will be held at St. Clement Anglican Church in Sachigo Lake First Nation on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery.
