Obituary for Frances Gross (Onotsky)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mom,
Frances Gross (née Onotsky) at Southbridge Pinewood Long-Term Care Home in
Thunder Bay on September 10, 2023 at the age of 89.

Francy was born on January 13, 1934 in Timmins where she lived all of her life. She
worked at CFCL, Mike’s Grocery Store on 2 nd Ave and Porcupine Health Unit. She
spent most of her summers at Barber’s Bay with Alfred and she just loved her “seniors”
curling in the winter.

Francy will be sadly missed by her 3 daughters, Danica (Rob) of Thunder Bay, Christina
(Michael) of Timmins and Lori-Ann of Clarington. She was a very proud Gramma to
Michael (Kristen) of Thunder Bay, Mark of Thunder Bay, Ryan (Caissy) of Timmins,
Aaron of Timmins, Jessica (Jesse) of Port Hope and Amy of Clarington. She was also a
Great Gramma to Elizabeth and Victoria of Thunder Bay.

Francy is survived by her sisters Pauline Onotsky & Diana McNiven of St. Catharines, Linda Scott of Wasaga Beach and sister-in-law Jeannette Onotsky of Iroquois Falls, as well as many nieces
and nephews in Southern Ontario and Bavaria. Predeceased by her husband Alfred,
parents John & Joan, brother Gordon and several in-laws in Canada and Germany.

We would like to thank family, friends, Dr. Lax and Dr. DiTullio for their support,
especially over the last several years, and a heartfelt Thank You to Dr. Klassen, Crystal
and all the Hummingbird staff at Pinewood Court during the last 3 years for their
excellent care of mom and for their compassion towards her as she declined through
the stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

As per mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private burial will be held at a
later date. If so desired, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Arrangements are entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, thunder Bay.
