Obituary for Mr. Aurelio Sabaz
Aurelio Sabaz passed away May 23, 2023 at the age of 82 in Hogarth-Riverview Manor.
Aurelio was born on December 8, 1940 in Portole Istria, Italy and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1951.
As a dedicated teacher in the Catholic School Board for over 3 decades, Aurelio excelled both in the classroom and in many extra curricular activities, including physical education where he coached numerous teams.
Guided and inspired by his faith, Aurelio was a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where he spent many years volunteering in various capacities such as lectoring, heading the funeral committee, and facilitating the youth club.
Aurelio shared a love for travel, sports, music, movies and history that was only surpassed by the love he had for his family.
His continuous generosity had no limits and his unconditional love and support will be greatly missed.
Aurelio is survived by his brother’s Mario, Lino (Shirley), nieces and nephews Sheryl (Michael), Mark, Suzanne, Adam, Michael (Dawn Marie), great nieces and nephews Wesley (Laura), Jeffrey (Kylie), Zoe, Rya, Mia, Sierra, Tristen and Chase.
Aurelio was predeceased by his parents Alfieri and Amalia and his sister-in-law Margaret Sabaz.
Funeral Mass for the late Mr. Aurelio Sabaz will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 10:30AM in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, celebrated by Fr. Luigi Filippini. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening in EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Vigil Prayers being offered at 7:00 PM.
