Obituary for Mr. Henryk Zbigniew "Henry" Rybicki

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Henryk “Henry” Rybicki, age 74 years, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in his home.

Henry was born in Jaroslaw, Poland on January 8, 1949 to Olga and Zbigniew Rybicki. He immigrated to Canada, settling in Thunder Bay, in 1988 and spent the rest of his life in the land of the Sleeping Giant. He worked for Canadian Pacific Railway on the maintenance crew until the late 1990's. Henry was also a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Polish Veterans Branch 149.

He was well known in the Polish community as a skilled fisherman and outdoor enthusiast; taking great pride, not only in fishing itself, but preparing his catches with a variety of special marinades and smoking techniques.
Survived by his daughter, Justyna Tekieli; son, Rafal Rybicki; grandchildren, Szymon, Tomasz , Mateusz, and Maja. Siblings, Grazyna (Zbigniew) and Roman (Jolanta), nieces and nephews, Pawel, Gabriela, and Kasia as well as other extended family in Canada and Poland.

He was predeceased by his father Zbigniew and mother Olga.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11:00AM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St at Algoma, with Fr. Henryk Agustynowicz officiating.
