Obituary for Mr. Richard John Kruse

The family of Richard John Kruse, sadly announces his death on January 1, 2023.

Richard was born on October 16, 1955 in Maria, Quebec. He began his career in Exploration/Mining as his fathers aide, who was a Geologist. Richard was a highly respected Geological Draftsman, and a good portion of his life was spent at Noranda Exploration Inc. He later went on to do contract work for various Exploration firms.

Richard’s passion in life was sailing his San Juan 24-foot sailboat. Many memorable years were spent on Lake Superior, whether he was racing or just cruising. He even went as far as trailering his sailboat down to Duluth, Minnesota for the International San Juan races, in which he placed 4th.

His greatest accomplishment was being a father and grandfather. He was a kind and gentle person who loved the outdoors, fishing and just sitting by the fire strumming his guitar. Many wonderful years were spent at Whitefish Lake (Come By Chance Resort) with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his children, Kelsey Baratta and Roman Kruse; grandchildren, Cove and Oakes Baratta; his beloved mother Francoise Kruse; sister, Carol Kruse; and brothers, Peter and Michael Kruse.

Richard was predeceased by his father, Reginald John Kruse.

The family will hold a private ceremony. Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richards memory may be made to a local food bank or a charity of choice.
