Obituary for Mrs. Anna Perrier (Zamchira)

Anna Perrier
1923-2022

Our very loved matriarch, Ann Perrier, has gone to be with her daughter Carol and her husband Roland. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Ann was born in Potocryska, Poland on May 19, 1923. When she was five years old, along with her mother and siblings, she journeyed across the Atlantic to reunite with their father who was working in Fort William. Her childhood was harsh with tragedy but it made her the hard working, loving woman that she was.

She met Roland when she was 19 and they were married May 27, 1944. The hardest tragedy for her was losing her daughter, Carol, to Meningitis on June 23, 1955. This grief stayed with her all of her life. She cherished her two sons Larry and Gary. Her home was often the scene of many gatherings. Her wonderful cooking skills were so appreciated by many. Her nine grandchildren, Genevieve, Bridget, Shawn, Todd, Marc, Julia, Kiley, Lacy, Shelby were the center of her love. She also lived to enjoy her great grandchildren, Tanner, Briar, Soleil, Peanut, Rowan, Gryphon, June, Noah, Paige and her great great grandchildren, Riot, Kinsley and Xander and Isla. Ann loved children and also loved our dogs. Even in her last years when dementia creeped in she was still able to share love and affection with her family.

Ann had a giving kind heart and easily showed her love to others. We all remember fondly her strong grip on us which was hard to break away from. She loved to dance. When she was 90 years old she wore her best party dress and danced with her grandson Marc at Shawn's wedding. At 90 she also ended up in emergency with exhaustion from making 1000 peroguys on her own. She will be truly missed by many for her amazing Ukrainian dishes but mostly for her enormous ability to love.

She was predeceased by her daughter Carol and her husband Roland, her great grandsons Tanner and Cody and her granddaughter Genevieve. Also predeceased by her siblings, Olga, Tony, Spike, Sydney, Mary, Stella and her best friend of 80 years Olga Kalnyuk.

She is survived by her sons Larry (Jeannine) and Gary (Sharon), her 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters Jean Stark and Sylvia Protnicki.

A special thank you to the Sandpiper staff at Southbridge Pinewood Home for the care and compassion they showed Ann during the years she was there.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 12:10pm followed by a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.
