Obituary for Mr. Gideon Morris Semple

GIDEON SEMPLE
February 25, 1972 – December 7, 2022

Mr. Gideon Morris Semple, age 50 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

Gideon was born in Kasabonika Lake First Nation, Ontario on February 25, 1972 to Harry and Irene Semple. He was a hardworker and dedicated to his jobs, some of which include a Teacher and Principal, Education Director, Councillor and most recently as a Liason in Thunder Bay, helping members of Kasabonika during their travels to the city. Gideon met Diane Anderson and they were married in 1994, raising their family together. He was a devoted husband and wonderful father.

Gideon was a kind, loving and patient man, his faith was important to him and he counted his blessings every day. Gideon accepted everyone as they were, never had a bad thing to say about anyone and never held a grudge - his life motto being “Forgive and Forget”. He was always willing to lend a hand, give advice and encouragement or just listen to those who needed him. Gideon enjoyed reading in his spare time, however his greatest passion was his family. He truly loved spending time with all of them, especially his kids and grandkids. Gideon will be missed deeply by those who knew him.

Gideon is survived by his wife, Diane; children Morris Beardy, Thomas Semple, Faith Semple, Monica Semple, Deiken Turtle, Patience Semple, Timerity Semple as well as his many grandchildren; father Harry Semple; siblings Simon Semple, Tom Semple, Philip Semple and Laura Semple. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends also survive.

He was predeceased by his mother Irene (nee Anderson); brother Frank Semple and sister Sally Anderson.

A Wake Service will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 10:00am until 12:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Gideon will then be transported to Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, where a Wake Service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 10:00am until 12:00pm. Final services will be held in Kasabonika Lake First Nation on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 1:00pm with burial to follow in the Community Cemetery.
