Obituary for Mr. Stacey John Beerthuizen

Stacey Beerthuizen
November 3rd, 1976 - October 16th, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Stacey John Beerthuizen, on Sunday October 16th, 2022. He was born November 3rd, 1976 in Thunder Bay.

Stacey was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, quading and spending time at his cabin on Calm Lake with the love of his life Shannon, and his children Austin, Jorja and Talen. It was his happy place, and he made many friends there. As a youth Stacey was involved in hockey, dirt biking, karate, skateboarding, soccer, swimming, and skiing. He loved and excelled at everything he did. Many of these interests followed him throughout his life, especially his love of hockey. He never stopped cheering for his beloved Oilers and had many friends within the local hockey community.

Stacey was employed at Clow Darling as a gas fitter for 18 years where he also made many friends and was at the top of his game. Stacey was an animal lover bringing home many stray cats over the years – (usually smuggled into the house). His dog Gully was his best friend and was his faithful companion in his last years.

Stacey was predeceased by his father Addy, his grandparents, his sister Theresa, and his cousin Ryan. He is survived by his partner Shannon Haglin, his children Austin, Jorja and Talen, his mother Lynda Etherington, brother Addy (Jeannine), sister Bobbi (Pat Dow), his brother Andrew Hoover, and his nephew and best bud Michael Holmwood, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Stacey will always be remembered for his huge heart and warm smile.

A celebration of life will be held in his honour on Sunday October 30th at the Heritage Building, CLE grounds from 1:00-4:00pm. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Stacey to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
