Obituary for Mr. Steven Vincent Pedri

STEVEN VINCENT PEDRI
OCTOBER 23, 1974 – SEPTEMBER 25, 2022

The family of Steven Vincent Pedri, age 47 years, is deeply saddened to announce his unexpected passing due to an aneurysm on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Steven was born on October 23, 1974 in Thunder Bay, Ontario to parents Stella and Vincent Pedri. He
was the second born of 4 children and was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School. As a kid Steven was kind, loving and full of adventure and would use the neighbourhood backyards as his personal playground. Steven, with his late childhood friend Todd, would venture out building forts, create ninja courses, ramps and jumps for BMX riding and occasionally volunteering their night services to remove vegetables from the neighbours gardens. Hunting, ice fishing and snowmobiling were some of the other activities Steven enjoyed to do with friends and family growing up. On May 31, 1991 Steven was involved in an accident that would change his and his family's life from then on. He endured years of physical and cognitive rehabilitation, although never regaining his full mobility, it did spark an interest that turned into his passion. The Gym! He fell in love with working out and educating himself in physical fitness and became a certified personal trainer. After his stint in training he moved to become the manager of Fitness Advantage where he worked for 10 years.

One activity that he loved both pre and post accident was billiards. Stevie couldn’t play enough sometimes, he loved to challenge his uncles and his dad. It was a special bond between Steven and his father, they started playing in the local pool league that took them to a national tournament in Las Vegas. Another true passion for Steven was drinking coffee. He was no stranger to the Memorial Avenue coffee scene. It didn’t matter the time or weather, his mother would get in the vehicle and go with Stevie to their hot spots. He met a lot of people at the coffee shops and it was always a great place to reconnect with old friends from back in the day. Coffee with Brent and the guys always seemed to put a smile on his face. Shopping was at the top of the list for Stevie, he loved his clothing and would use travelling as a cover for shopping sprees.

When it came to family gatherings, you could always count on Stevie to be the first one there. He loved being around and visiting with all of his family and almost equally loved the food that was there. He was a machine and we still don’t know where he put it all! Covid was not easy for anyone. For Steven, not being able to go out and be his social self was difficult. However, sharing that time with his girlfriend Liz was a ray of sunshine during those uncertain times.

Saying that Steven will be missed does not do justice to the void that has been created. He will
be forever loved and cherished by his life-long rock, his mother Stella; daughter Tori (Greg); girlfriend, Liz; siblings, Lisa (Greg), Chris (Suzanne) and Leanne (Jeff); nephews, Nicholas, Vincent, Marcus, Nathaniel, Jackson, Lincoln, Jordan and Connor and many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Steven was predeceased by his beloved father, Vincent; grandparents Natalia and Stefan Rzepczynski and Elena and Celeste Pedri, cousin Joseph and uncle Tony.

Steven loved his old movies and would always recite lines from them. One of his favourites was from The Outsiders, and now we say it to him:
“Stay Gold Pony Boy, Stay Gold”.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Steven Pedri will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 with family and friends gathering in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM celebrated by Fr. Luigi Filippini. Interment will take place in St. Andrew's Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his father. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Underground Gym.

God Bless You Stevie
