Maire Tellervo Nummelin
April 14, 1929 - August 27, 2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maire Tellervo Nummelin on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Bethammi Nursing Home in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.
Born in Kuopio County, Finland she came to Canada to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1970.
Maire worked as a bookkeeper for several years both in Finland and Canada. She was operating a grocery store before her lengthy illness. She was a member of the Independent Finnish Lutheran Church, Finlandia Club and various other Finnish organizations.
Maire is predeceased by sister; Anneli Väänänen, August 2016 and grandson Joey Nummelin, May 2022.
Survived by her son; Kaj Nummelin (Jennifer), daughters; Heidi McCartney, Sari Garieri, Tiina Dagnall (Tim), Sini Nummelin (Dennis); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As a long term resident of Bethammi Nursing Home, Maire took part very wholeheartedly in all of the activities her home had to offer. The awesome care, compassion and professionalism by the staff and volunteers is truly appreciated by the family.
Her sunny disposition, mischievous sense of humour, laughter, numerous blown kisses and "I love you's " will be missed by all.
Maire will be laid to rest on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in private ceremony by family members. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
