Obituary for Mr. John (Jack) William Rea

JOHN (JACK) WILLIAM REA
June 10, 1933 – August 22, 2022

John (Jack) William Rea passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the age of 89.

Jack was born in Fort William on June 10, 1933 to David Clark Rea and Ida Rea. He met the love of his life, Shirley Siciliano, at a dance 70 years ago. Jack and Shirley married on October 17, 1953 and they welcomed 4 children.

Jack worked as a machinist at Abitibi for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his garage and fixing anything he could. The farmers were always bringing him things to repair or rebuild. Jack took pride in explaining how he fixed pieces of machines to his children and grandchildren. He officially closed his shop when he was 87 ½ years old. Another joy of Jack’s was local stock car racing and watching NASCAR races.

Jack will be forever missed by his loving wife, Shirley (nee Siciliano); children David, Lois (Stan) Myslicki and Douglas (Brenda); 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy; his mother and father, 2 brothers, Don and Joe and 3 sisters, Jean, Cathy and June.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Jack Rea will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will follow in Mountainview Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening (TONIGHT) from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Chapel.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Jack to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
