Obituary for Mrs. Marjorie Helen Cook (Hamilton)

Marjorie Helen Cook

It is with great sadness that the family of Marjorie Helen Cook announce her passing on Sunday, July 24, 2022, after 100 long years.

Mom was born September 13th, 1921 in Callander, Ontario. She married Robert Preston Cook, and they raised 7 children. They were married for 47 ½ years until Dad's passing on February 8th, 1988.

Mom was a proud independent woman, living in the P.R. Cook Apartments until this past February, 2022. She was a very loyal, honest person, a good listener, had a fantastic memory and loved to talk – and give her opinion! She was a life member of the Moose Lodge, the Royal Canadian Legion P.A. Branch #5, and a volunteer at 55 Plus.

In her younger years, Mom loved to travel, the casino, her walking group, and going to her grandchildren's soccer games. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her family whom she was very proud of.

Survived by her sons, David (Marleen), Dennis (Cathy); daughters, Sandra, Wendy (Neil), Joy (Ross), Joni (Chris); daughter-in-law, Marlene; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; nephew Robert Sheare; and special friend Patricia Etherington.

Predeceased by her husband Robert; her son Gary; son-in-law Arthur Craven; and grandson Darren.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Transitional Care Unit for looking after Mom the last few months, and to Joy who was her best friend and stood by her to the very end.

Private funeral services will be held in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, with interment in Riverside Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
