Obituary for Miss Lorna Ann Susan Flavell

LORNA FLAVELL

With broken hearts, the family of Lorna Flavell announce her passing on July 7, 2022 at the TBRHSC. She fought so hard but lost her battle with pneumonia and other health issues.

Lorna was born in Port Arthur to Edward Flavell and Violet Flavell (Peterson). She resided in Kaministiquia for most of her life where she worked as the Postmaster for several years.

Lorna had such a great sense of humour and was happiest around her family and friends. In Lorna’s earlier years she enjoyed discing at the KCC, where she also loved taking part and helping organize the Variety Shows as part of the Winter Carnival. Lorna also enjoyed playing golf with her friends and was part of a women’s club for many years at Emerald Greens. Lorna had a love of country music, that she got from her Dad, and she loved playing board games and cards with friends and family.

After the loss of Lorna’s Mom (her best friend), she had a home built and resided there for about 10 years and it was the happiest that family had seen her. For the last several years she had resided in a HAGI apartment in Thunder Bay where she received the best of care while dealing with several health issues.

Lorna’s love was absolute. She loved her family so much and we loved her just as much in return. She was so happy when little Oliver was born. He brought her so much joy.

Lorna was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Arthur, her grandparents and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Left to remember Lorna with love forever is her sister, Sharon Hedman (Bill); niece, Kelly Manahan (Dean and Oliver); and niece, Tammy Ewing (Jason).

Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family gathering at Riverside Cemetery.

Special thanks to the doctors and the wonderful nurses on 3B at the TBRHSC who took such good care of Lorna, and with special thanks to Nurse Ash and to Nurse Sarah for sharing memories of Lorna. Also special thanks to the wonderful HAGI team who took such good care of Lorna over the past several years. Lorna had a special place in her heart for the “Dream Team”, Hope and Stephanie, and for Jared and Nolan.

If family or friends so desire, donations in Lorna’s name can be made to Sick Kids Hospital, St. Joseph’s Care Group or the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.
