Obituary for Mrs. Rita Monique Denise Larocque (Carriere)
Mrs. Rita Monique Denise Larocque, age 75 years, years passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 27, 2022 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Rita was born January 11, 1947 in Lachute, Quebec to Hormidas and Carmelle Carriere. In Quebec, she met and married the love of her life, Maurice. In March 1975, they came to Thunder Bay, settling in Gorham where they raised their children. Rita was friendly and personable, making friends everywhere she went. She loved cooking and baking, most famous for her butter tarts which is how she became known as the “Butter Tart Queen”.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Stephan and Josee (Kevin) and grandsons Nathan and Armand; her siblings, Fernande, Jocelyne, Marie, Serge and Lyne and and sister in-law Gisele. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family in Quebec.
Predeceased by her husband Maurice, her parents and brother Andre, as well as a brother in infancy.
Rita will be laid to rest, along with her beloved Maurice in Quebec. Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma
