Obituary for Mrs. Christine Barbara White (Handzlik)

WHITE

It is with great sadness that we must let our friends, family and loved ones know that we lost Christine on Monday, February the 7th to a brief battle with cancer.

For those fortunate enough to be part of Christine's life, you will fondly remember her love for baking, family gatherings and helping family in times of need.

The family would like to extend our humble thanks to Dr. Echum and the nursing staff at TBRH - 3A that helped my Mom maintain her dignity, especially during her last few days with us.

Christine’s generosity, kindness and love towards others are just a few words that fall short to capturing who she was and what she meant to us. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.

Sina, her grandson, best illustrates how Christine had an impact on his life. Anyone who knew her will surely appreciate his perspective:

Christine meant the
world to me. What I loved most about her, and what I will deeply miss so much, was how amazing she was to talk to; I am a very quiet person but whenever I was around Christine, I always felt like I wanted to talk, and countless times our conversations would last hours. There was something about her presence that made you so comfortable to just be yourself. Growing up in Thunder Bay, going to her house was always my favorite part of that day. She made the best desserts, and certainly the best blueberry pie I ever had.

Christine was generous, considerate, loving, strong and resilient. She was always incredibly kind and supportive, and never made me doubt any of the things I wanted to do in my future. She gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams. Christine was an open ear, a hand to hold, someone who had your back no matter what and someone I will miss so very much. I truly believe that we all need someone like Christine in our lives.

We all love you. You will be sharply missed by your sons, your brother, sisters and the entire family.
