Obituary for Mr. Frederick John "Fred" Davis

Mr. Frederick John Davis, age 74 years, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

Fred was born February 28, 1947 in Port Arthur. He married April Goodwin on October 21, 1972 and together they raised three children and many fur babies. Fred was well suited to the wilderness of Northwestern Ontario, he liked fishing, camping and spending time at the Davis family camp on Hicks Lake. Every Canada day long weekend they packed up the trailer to take the family (including neighbourhood kids) to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park where they made many memories. Fred enjoyed curling Sunday mornings and watching many sporting events on the TV. Fred loved to take walks daily with his fur babies and talk to the friendly people he met on his way. Fred was a kind hearted man/husband/father who loved to be hugged and had a great sense of humour, and you knew when he had a smirk he was coming back with a smart comment.

He worked for B & B Stone until it became Lafarge Canada until a change in management and then went on to be a courier for DHL. Working as a courier was a perfect position for Fred. He was able to chat with everyone on his route, and home by 6 for dinner. He enjoyed carpentry as a hobby, and sometimes had to revise his plans as the project progressed but did so with a good attitude and determination.

Survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, April and their fur babies, Coco and Teddy; children, Christopher (Krystal), Shane and Amanda (Mike); grandchildren, Jesse, Xander, Oryanna, Sarafin, Damon, Legacey, Kolton and Walker; siblings, Donald (Ellen), Joyce, Shirley, Lloyd (Solange), Tom (Cheryl) and Edith (Kevin); brother in-law Jim and nieces, nephews and other extended family. A big Thank you and hugs to Auntie Heather for all her calls and support that reminds us all, that the love of family is always around.

Predeceased by his parents, William and Martha Davis.

Thank you to the PSW's who helped take care of him for the last few years and to his doctors Dr. Rao, Dr. Kotb and Dr. Delpaggio.

Cremation has taken place and Celebration of Fred's Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
