Kurt Anton Daberer
June 13, 1928 - August 31, 2021
It is with broken hearts that the family of Kurt Anton Daberer sadly announce his passing at St Joseph’s Hospital on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 at the age of 93.
Kurt was born in Kramsach, Austria, and immigrated to Canada in 1957. He settled in Port Arthur, where he met Inge Strasser. They married on November 24th, 1961, and lived for many years in their home on Lakeshore Drive. A talented roofer and carpenter, Kurt worked with Local 1669 Carpenters Union, operated his own roofing business (K.D. & Sons Home Roofing) alongside his sons, and worked well into his 80’s.
Left to mourn are Inge, his loving wife of 60 years, brother in-law Walter (Liisa), sons Peter, Volker (Kelly), Erich (Lori), and daughter Daniela (Owen) Nekuliak, and many grandchildren (9), great grandchildren (8), nieces, and nephews. Surviving siblings are Karl (Janine), Edith (Otto), Hertha (Detlef), and Inge (Oskar). He is predeceased by his parents Karl and Hermine Daberer, parents-in-law Walter and Anneliese Strasser, and siblings Clara (Eddy), Wilma (Zeno), Erich, Helga (Gert), and Werner (Lisel).
Kurt loved spending time celebrating special occasions with friends and family, fishing, camping, mushroom picking, watching downhill skiing and soccer on tv, and lovingly caring for his dogs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
