Obituary for Mr. Domenico Caldarelli

DOMENICO CALDARELLI
September 11, 1933 – May 26, 2021

Mr. Domenico Caldarelli, age 87 years, passed away peacefully in Hogarth Riverview Manor on Wednesday May 26,2021 with his family by his side.

Domenico was born in Ortona, Chieti, Italy on September 11,1933.  He immigrated to Canada in 1962.  He married Assunta Faieta, the love of his life in 1964.

A cement finisher by trade, Domenico was a hardworking family man.  After injuries prevented him from working on construction sites, he did odd jobs and embraced the role of Dad and home chef, supplying many with deboned turkey rolls for every holiday or special occasion.  He had a passion for his garden and was so proud of his fresh vegetables and beautiful flowers. Domenico loved children and was so delighted when he became a Nonno.  He proudly attended sport events and dance recitals.

He was a devout parishioner at St. Dominic's Church where he sang in the choir.  He was also a lifetime member at the DaVinci Centre where he volunteered at many events.

Domenico is survived by his loving wife of 57 years,  Assunta, daughters Sandra (Greg) Garofalo and Daiana (Leo) Tuusa, grandchildren Jordan (Aili), Victoria (Austin), Tania and Thomas, his Godson Bryan Fresco, his brother Francesco (Leda), his sister Clelia, numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio Caldarelli and Marianna Civitarese, his sister Maria Sonego, brothers Nicola and Tomasso, and nephew Tony Caldarelli.

Due to the current COVID-19 gathering restrictions, a private family service will be held in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  A video recording of the funeral will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website beginning on Tuesday.

Should friends so desire, donations made in Domenico's memory to George Jeffrey Children's Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
