Obituary for Mr. Roy Louis Veneruzzo

ROY VENERUZZO
August 14, 1939 – May 18, 2021

Mr. Roy Louis Veneruzzo, age 81 years, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Roy was born in Fort William on August 14, 1939. He had a life long position as an industrial sales man. In his early days, Roy made calls to the local elevators, mills, and businesses throughout Thunder Bay and District. He worked many long hours to provide for his family and made sure they never did without. Roy was a very well respected business man and was the founder and General Manager of Nova Pro Industrial Supply Ltd. He was very proud of this accomplishment. Roy was also very proud of his Roman Catholic faith, and was a life member of St. Agnes Church, from baptism to death.

Roy loved all sports but his passion was always baseball. He was most proud of his accomplishment in becoming an all star player, coached by Ross Brewitt. Roy was also well known in our community for a good joke and his sense of humour. Heaven is definitely getting quite the character. He spent many of his days in the coffee shop and always welcomed the outing to catch up with the guys. Roy also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at his camp at Northern Light Lake. As popular as Roy was with his many friends, family and community, his greatest joy was the love he had for his three boys, Joseph, Kevin and Michael. In his eyes, they were everything he ever needed in life.

Roy is survived by his wife of 48 years Nancy (nee Gray) and his son’s Joseph (Alyssa) Veneruzzo, Kevin (Rachael) Veneruzzo and Michael (Chelsea) Veneruzzo. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Kaleb, Jakeb, Gavin and Lincoln. The boys could always make their Nonno smile. He is also survived by his sister Armaline (Fred) Morgan, brother Dennis (Jean) Veneruzzo and sister Josephine (Dr. Richard) Bertie. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive and will miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Eda Veneruzzo, sister Velma, and brother in law Jim Vass.

The family would like to thank all the medical professionals that touched the life of Roy. Thank you to the staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre, St. Joseph’s Care Group and those who came to take care of him in his home. Many doctor’s nurses and specialists were part of his life this past year. Also, a special thanks to the first responders and police officers, who provided the utmost respect and professionalism to the family during a difficult time.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a private family graveside service will take place in Mountainview Cemetery. A Celebration of Roy's life will be held once it is safe to gather again. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Roy to Diabetes Canada, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
