Mary Prairie passed away on the morning of July 22, 2018 at the age of 92 years in Roseview Manor, Thunder Bay Ontario.

Mary was born on September 20, 1925 in Mokry Haj, Slovakia and moved to Port Arthur Ontario with her family at age 9. On June 7, 1947 she married Alec Prairie at St. Andrews Church in Thunder Bay. During Alec’s career in the Canadian Armed Forces, they and their three young daughters lived in Quebec City, Germany, Rivers and Portage la Prairie MB. In 1973, she and Alec moved back to Thunder Bay where she was reunited with her sisters Angela, Millie and Betty.

Mary lived a long life of love, excitement and travelling. She spent her last two years under the loving care of the staff at Roseview Manor.

Mary is survived by her 3 daughters Linda (Louis) of Steinbach MB, Joan of New Zealand and Shirley (James) of Mission BC; her grandchildren Angela (Grant), Susan, Stephen (Lexa), Adrienne (Marc) and Breanne (Mike); and her great-grandchildren Katherine, Alex and Helaina. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Alec in 1988, her parents Ludvik and Cecilia and her brother John.

A Celebration of Life for Mary will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11:00 am in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma officiated by Fr. Francisco Blazek. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations made to Roseview Manor Resident’s Council, 99 Shuniah St. Thunder Bay, Ontario would be greatly appreciated.
