Obituary for Mr. Richard "Rick" Donald Fuchek

Mr. Richard "Rick" Donald Fuchek
Richard "Rick" Fuchek

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Richard “Rick” Donald Fuchek announce his passing after a long and brave battle with Multiple Sclerosis .  Rick passed away at the age of 65 on Monday, May 14, 2018 at home with his loving wife and dear mother by his side.

Rick was born in Fort William on June 6, 1952.  He graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School and worked as a Partsman at Cummins and Peterbuilt.  In September 1973, Rick married the love of his life, Shirley Derkatch and together they raised a beautiful daughter, Tanya. Rick had two grandsons, Atley & Gage, whom he was so proud of. Becoming a "Geege" was his greatest joy.

Before his illness progressed, Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Once bed ridden, he enjoyed watching sports and playing games on his iPad.  Rick will forever be remembered as a warrior who fought many obstacles without a complaint.  He was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Rick will be dearly missed and survived by his wife Shirley; daughter Tanya (Shane) Carson; grandchildren Atley and Gage; mother Helen Fuchek; mother-in-law Mary Derkatch; sister-in-law Debbie (Doug) White; nephew Ryan (Michelle) White; niece Tammy (Ryan) Taylor and their children Easton and Bauer as well as numerous friends and relatives.

He was predeceased by his father Andrew Fuchek; father-in-law Mike Derkatch and brother-in-law Brian Derkatch.

A private Celebration of Rick’s Life and interment will take place at a later date.  Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Rick to the MS Society would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street.

“You will always be in our hearts.” ❤️❤
