Condolence: Dear loved ones of Freda, Freda was as you know a generous, wise elder. I had the privilege of spending 4 days with her 7 or 8 years ago as we planned a program to support Indigenous language learning with friends from Mishko Bimaadjiwin. Freda was quiet, and at the end gave us our name, which meant "Saving the Children". I will never forget that moment, and I will always be grateful for her presence and gift to us. Condolence: Condolences to family and friends of our beautiful Chim Dimooysehn abun, Freda. She was humble and kind in her teachings. She was a respected knowledge keeper. Many of our community will miss her. Walter and Maria Linklater offer their condolences to her family and community from Saskatoon. She was a good friend of both of them, especially Maria. They have many memories of her.

Condolence: Freda worked with my dad at Fort William Historical Park for many years. Though I did not know her well in my adult life, when I was growing up I called her Kokum. She was always kind, always smiling, from my first memories of her through recent years I saw her around town. I have a memory of sitting on her lap when I was wee, and her teaching me words in Anishinaabemowin. A wooden doll my dad made for me, which Freda named Ajidamoo (squirrel), watches over my desk at this very moment. Miigwech Freda for all you gave to the world. You will be remembered.

Condolence: Miigwech Goockum Freda for making me so welcome down at the encampment all those years. I'll never forget the beaver roasts at the end of season and the endless laughs.
