Mrs. Adelina Carmela Mauro (nee Nicoletti), age 90 years passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, in the comfort of her family in St. Joseph's Hospice. Adelina was born on October 27, 1926, in Santo Stefano, Calabria, Italy. On September 28, 1950 she married the love of her life, Pietro Mauro. In 1959, she travelled to Canada to join her husband to make a better life for their family. Her passion was cooking and her love was her family. She was an amazing woman who devoted her life to taking care of her family and home. Adelina was predeceased by her husband Pietro, son Francesco (at birth), her parents Chiarina and Raffaele Nicoletti, brother Francesco and sisters Marietta and Angelina. She will be deeply missed by daughters Mary (Luigi) Arabia, Rose McWhirter, Frances (Mark) Sdao; her grandchildren Nancy, Patrick (Kristy), Riley (Darcy), Tony (Heather), Cindy (Kerry), Ryan (Jeannie), Ashley (Greg); her dear sister-in-law Norina Nicoletti; numerous great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews from Windsor, Philadelphia and Germany. Funeral services for the late Mrs. Adelina Mauro will be held on Friday October 6, 2017, with family and friends assembling in St. Anthony's R.C. Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30 am, celebrated by Fr. Luigi Filippini. Entombment to follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be on Thursday (tonight) evening from 6:00 pm in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, with the Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00 pm. If friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Glacier Ridge where she resided for 14 years, and most recently P. R. Cook Apartments. Also to the staff of 2B at TBRHSC and St. Joseph's Hospice, especially Dr. Andrew Migay and Dr. Geoff Davis.
