Obituary for Mr. John Douglas Toppozini

Mr. John Douglas Toppozini
Mr. John Douglas Toppozini, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

John was born in Fort William on March 6, 1954 to Allio and Norah Toppozini. He was educated locally and went on to work for many years at Bombardier in shipping/receiving, until retirement in 2009. His five children were raised by him and their mother Barb in the house that he built in Scoble, with the help of his friends, and that he continued to live in until he passed.

He took great pride in his house and yard where he had many flowers beds and almost always freshly cut grass. He loved having visitors and always made sure everyone felt welcome to stay and come back at any time.

John was a social person that loved to bring everyone together through various activities like fishing, hanging out at Oliver Lake, and his annual horseshoe tournaments.

John is survived by his children Lisa, Laura (Chad), Kimberly (Jason), John, and William (Shae). He is also survived by his grandchildren Rowan, River, and Brantley as well as his sisters Louise (Wayne) and Cheryl (Tim) and brother Gary (Linda).

He was predeceased by his parents Allio and Norah.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Thursday, July 20 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the DaVinci Centre. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of John to the Neebing Fire Department as well as Thunder Bay Counselling Centre are much appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
