The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mr. David Coffey can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolences

Condolence From: Bill Bosward
Condolence: To Dave's family, I've just learned of his passing now, 5 years later and wanted to express my deepest sympathy and condolances.

Dave and I were in the same recruit class at Police College in Aylmer in 1982, Dave from Thunder Bay and I from Toronto. I collected police patches at the time and got my TB patch from Dave of course. Dave was a great guy, funny and steady as a rock. He was well liked and respected by the other students and the teaching staff. He was tight with our main instructor, Sgt Brock Frankland who was a Toronto Police Officer and I know Dave stayed in touch with Brock many years after we finished recruit training.

Very sad to find this untimely passing of Dave. RIP buddy!

Condolence: David was one of my best friends growing up. I could not have asked for a better best friend. We had a lot of fun growing up in Current River.

We lost touch for a while after I moved away to go to school and to work but I always enjoyed seeing him and getting updates on his most current adventure. I had the good fortune to reconnect with him after he started working at the Courthouse. It is interesting that I went into law and he went into law enforcement. Maybe us growing up together had something to do with that.

I will miss David and always have fond memories of him. He obviously impacted many other peoples' lives as well given how many people were at the funeral. I was lucky to know him.

Best regards,

Chris Hacio

Condolence From: Malcolm Young
Condolence: I met Dave in the later part of his career when he was the RSM of the LSSR and later Brigade SM.

CWO Coffee was a man of strong convictions and personality. I believe that he set the tone for future Brigade SMs as true partners within the Command Team. I know that he lobbied hard for the troops of the Brigade.

He will not be forgotten. Please pass on my condolences to Dave's family and to the Regiment.

Regards

Malcolm

Condolence: I had the chance to work with Dave closely when he was the 38 Brigade sergeant-major. He had a fantastic sense of humour; a mastery of his job; a strong sense of duty; and was an all-round good person to work with. I will miss him. Good shooting, Dave.
