MARIA LACYK
1924-2017
Mrs. Maria Lacyk, age 93 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2017 in Hogarth Riverview Manor.
Maria was born in Vilhivka, Volyn Region, Ukraine on May 20, 1924 and she immigrated to Canada in 1952. Maria's Ukrainian culture and heritage was very important to her. She also had a passion for gardening. Whether it be vegetables or flowers, she could always be found working hard to keep things growing.
Maria was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Andrew (Andy) of Thunder Bay as well as her two sisters and a brother in Ukraine.
She will be dearly missed by all of her Godchildren, friends and distant family in Ukraine.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 with family and friends gathering in the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Cross for the Divine Liturgy at 10:00AM celebrated by Fr. Stepan Didur. Interment will follow later in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time in the church.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Everest Funeral Chapel , 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
